The Dean of Education is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Education division, encompassing alignment of Principals, Chairs, Curriculum, Educational Support Services, and Special Programs. The Dean sets and achieves annual goals and priorities in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan and in alignment with Board priorities. The Dean’s primary focus is on the delivery of the school’s education mission of shaping affections for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field
- Experience in school leadership
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and alignment for Principals in ensuring appropriate campus-alignment, and support of principals in their leadership of faculty and student cultures.
- Oversee the work of department chairs, ensuring balance between pacing, content, depth, and rigor.
- Implement faculty development programs and initiatives that strengthen individuals while also supporting district-wide growth and cohesion in areas of identified need.
- Oversee Educational Support Services and ensure balance between the felt needs of students and teachers and The Academy’s commitment to serving students with a variety of strengths and weaknesses.
- Provide leadership and accountability for Program Directors in their efforts to complement the work of Principals in education formation and the shaping of affections.
- Oversee the school’s curriculum, including how it is delivered (the schedule) and deepened (Lyceum, J-Term, Travel, etc).
- Work with organizational leadership and the Board to set annual education goals.
- Lead the Education Committee
- Attend board meetings and report on progress and challenges on key strategies and priorities.
- Collaborate with Academy leadership to align on the organizational strategy and annual departmental objectives that give direction to the Education Division’s priorities.
- Model a leadership style that is open, supportive, delegates responsibility, and is respectful of all parties.
