The Chief Advancement Officer is the chief architect of storytelling at The Academy, coordinating how we communicate the school’s mission and strategic direction to different stakeholder groups, including donors, parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations. The Chief Advancement Officer oversees development, marketing, culture & events, admissions, and communications, setting and achieving annual goals and priorities in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan and in alignment with board priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coordination for advancement team staff, including establishing annual goals, providing regular performance reviews, and facilitating appropriate recognition and departmental ownership.
  • Work with organizational leadership to set annual development and strategic goals.
  • Work with organizational leadership to oversee parent and community education and re-education initiatives, strengthening cultural identity across stakeholder groups.
  • Oversee the development strategy (giving society, capital campaigns and other community fundraising efforts) and implement accountability to the annual plan.
  • Clarify and maintain The Academy's brand and ensure all marketing efforts are aligned with and enhance the story (print, annual report, social media, website, spirit store, uniforms, athletic gear, graphics, etc.)
  • Oversee communications to ensure an effective system for all stakeholder goals and monitor progress for continual improvement, including the annual calendar.
  • Oversee all Academy events as they aim to serve stakeholders throughout the institution that have ownership of their department or program.
  • Collaborate with Admissions in telling the story of the school through view events, tours, and print media.
  • Attend board meetings and report on progress and challenges on key strategies and priorities.
  • Collaborate with Academy leadership to align organizational strategy and annual departmental objectives that give direction to the advancement team's priorities.
  • Model a leadership style that is open, supportive, delegates responsibility, and respectful of all parties.
