About Ascension Classical School

Ascension Classical School was founded in 2014 and offers the Shreveport, Louisiana, community an educational model that is classical and Christian. From one initial kindergarten class of fourteen students, Ascension has grown by adding one successive grade level each year.  The school is now in its tenth year and serves more than 130 students enrolled in grades K-11, spanning Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric levels, with plans in place to graduate its first class in 2027.  Through a committed faculty and administration that are both highly qualified and grounded in Christ-centered discipleship, Ascension offers a robust list of excellent special programs in keeping with its classical ideals, including Latin, art, music, physical education, nature studies, and a growing library of classic texts.  New athletic and co-curricular opportunities for the Upper School are developed and added every year.  Ascension completed Phase I of its campus development plan and moved into its classically designed Grammar School building in 2019.  Fundraising is currently underway to build a Phase II Upper School wing with eight additional classrooms, library, and enrichment space that will also serve as a state-of-the-art storm shelter.  More information may be found on the school’s website.

Ascension is governed by an independent board of trustees.  The school is not affiliated with any particular church or denomination but serves families from over 25 Christian churches in the greater Shreveport area.  Ascension is a member of the Society of Classical Learning, the Association of Classical Christian Schools, and is anticipating accreditation through the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools in April of 2025.
