The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a part time first grade Teacher Aide starting in the 2025-26 school year. Our school, which serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning, rooted in the Western Liberal Arts tradition, focused on the formation of the whole person—mind, body, and soul. Our faculty leads with an incarnational approach that seeks to equip and inspire students to live well through service to God and others.

 

Position Overview:

The Teacher Aide will assist the first grade classroom teachers in the following ways:

  • Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher
  • Assist in lesson preparation, classroom organization and management, as well as special events
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, playground, gymnasium, and on field trips

The ideal candidate will be committed to the holistic formation of children within a Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences curriculum and to fostering a joy-filled environment in which students encounter the goodness, truth, and beauty of God’s creation. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with children, parents, teachers, and staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • A mature, Christian faith
  • Experience working with children
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong ability to integrate their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching
