Human Resources COHORT

WHAT ARE PARTICIPANTS SAYING?

“It's easy to feel isolated when there are no other classical schools nearby; the SCL Grammar School Heads Cohort has given me a group of colleagues where I would otherwise have none. Thank you!”

Distinctives

Connection

Develop relationships with other HR colleagues in the Classical Christian school movement to consult, advise, collaborate and grow professionally.

Office Hours

Scheduled office hours twice a month for individuals or groups by appointment.

Resources

Access to a “toolbox” via a shared folder of articles, sample documents and other resources that we will review and contribute to throughout the year.

Conversational

Ongoing virtual connection with others working in HR, whether part-time or full-time, to serve as sounding boards, problem solvers, coaches and, most importantly, supporters and encouragers.

Purpose

This program will cover HR fundamentals, and give HR staff a chance to talk through issues, challenges and best practices of real-life scenarios with other cohort members. The goal of the first year is to understand the basics while working toward HR best practices.

Format

  • Twelve monthly virtual meetings, each lasting about 90 minutes, to include a brief overview of an HR fundamental, followed by time to talk through issues, challenges and best practices of real-life scenarios shared by the cohort team.
  • Runs September 2021 through August 2022.
  • One to two hours of monthly homework, split between reading/researching the topic next up for discussion and curating examples, whether that be personal examples, shareable forms, documents or resources we will use to grow our HR cohort “library”.
