Description

Cedar Classical Academy seeks a full-time Homeroom Teacher in the combined 3rd & 4th grade class (20-24 students). Cedar Classical Academy is a K-12 school that understands education to be the proper ordering of students-loves rather than mere college and career preparation. The Teacher will join Cedar’s 21 other staff members to cultivate students’ intellectual and moral virtue. The Teacher reports to the Dean of Lower School Faculty.

The 3rd & 4th grade teacher will provide a joyful, orderly classroom atmosphere for the students, cultivate moral and intellectual virtue within them, and prepare these students for the increasing challenge of the classical Christian curriculum by facilitating 100% participation from 100% of the class 100% of the time. The Teacher will teach history, literature, theology, and science for the combined class, as well as one grade of math, orthography, and grammar. The Teacher will work closely with other faculty to build a seamless grade-to-grade continuity when it comes to both academic and character expectations. The Teacher will preserve and build the schoolwide culture of singing and storytelling.

The Teacher will embrace the classical and Christian nature of the school by filling students’ school days with rich content, engaging lessons, vivid language, challenging questions, and Christian themes. In addition to these specific duties, the Teacher will model the Christian faith to students and as a representative of the school’s mission. The Teacher will address poor behavior and patterns of sin in their students, praying with and for students on a regular basis.

This position is a full-time, salaried position with a start date of July 1. Teacher training is provided on campus in August. Teacher mentorship from the Head of School and the Dean of Lower School Faculty will be provided throughout the year. The Teacher will have a bachelor’s degree; prior classical teaching training and/or experience is preferred.

The Teacher shall be a born-again believer and a member in good standing of a local church. Applicants should carefully review our Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Statement of Faith. Download the application here and send it to hiring@cedarclassicalacademy.org. We require background checks and fingerprints for all employees and volunteers.
