Description
The Advancement Associate supports the Development functions of the school. He or she will work to promote the mission of the school primarily through data entry, content editing, mailings, and other general office tasks. The position will also include some constituent engagement, as well as assistance with event planning. The Advancement Associate must be organized, skilled in working with volunteers, and committed to serving the students, families, and other constituents of The Covenant School. This is a 25 hour/week position that reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance with identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors for development initiatives such as the annual fund, scholarships, and the capital campaign
- Donor research for proposal preparation, acknowledgement letters, and impact reports
- Support of Office of Advancement functions such as mailings, budgeting documentation, purchase orders, database management, and data entry
- Management of alumni engagement initiatives
- Coordination of the Covenant Business Partners corporate sponsorship initiative
- Assistance with event planning for Development functions such as alumni gatherings, the Cornerstone Circle Reception, Grandparents Days, and the Auction Gala, the school's chief community fundraising event
Essential Qualifications
- Commitment to the Christian faith, dedicated membership of a Christian community, and a desire for spiritual maturity
- Capacity to think and plan strategically; high degree of organization and time-management around deadline-drive work; strong work ethic and poise under pressure; ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as to collaborate on a team
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills; ability to edit for grammar and syntax
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to achieve proficiency in a donor database
- Some familiarity with fundraising and marketing principles
- Capability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and constituents in a manner that reflects the mission and values of the school
- Willingness to abide by and sign the school's Statement of Principles - a commitment to the Christian faith, which is central to the core values of the school.
