Description

The Assistant Director of Admissions helps the Admissions Office to execute the admission and enrollment processes at The Stony Brook School. He/she assists prospective SBS students and their families through the ongoing process that begins with the family’s first contact with SBS through the admissions decision and if applicable, enrollment.

Essential Functions
  • Follows inquiries and applications in process to completion; manage admissions funnel from inquiry to enrollment
  • Helps to organize, set up, and staff Open Houses
  • Advises prospective students, parents/guardians, and placement counselors on admissions and financial aid policies and procedures
  • Acts as a full voting member of the Admissions Committee and makes admissions recommendations
  • Interviews applicants, their parents/guardians and completes interview reports
  • Reads applicant files and evaluates candidates for admission
  • Assists with internal and external research projects
  • Reviews and evaluates Vericant videos
  • Works with the Admissions team and the Business Office to process signed contracts from new and returning students
  • Schedules tours and interviews
  • Files application materials for prospective students
  • Welcomes visitors as needed
  • Provides enrollment data and net-tuition revenue data to the Director of Enrollment Management
Other Functions
  • Provides backup support to other admissions positions as needed
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management
  • Works with counselor/learning specialist to responsibly gather extra information needed for applicants as needed
  • Assists with proofing and editing admissions marketing materials
  • Assists with the major communications that are sent to prospective families and current families
  • Handles the ordering of supplies for the office
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years of experience with demonstrated success in admissions, student services, education, marketing, sales, communications, public relations or related area
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and public relations skills
  • Highly professional and discreet in all pursuits
  • Comfortable working in and with diverse student and adult populations
  • Proficient with PC systems, Word, Excel, database management, and google analytics
  • Experience with digital marketing is preferred
Working Conditions
  • Pressure of deadlines
  • Some weekend and school-holiday work required during the admissions season
  • Role may require some travel via car and plane
