Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement (PACE), the Assistant Director of Development is primarily responsible for developing and implementing the strategy, designing, and managing The Bear Creek School’s primary fundraising activities, including the annual fund program, President’s Circle; the spring Gala; and supporting other fundraising initiatives as needed. This role will staff the Advancement Committee in conjunction with the Senior Director of PACE. The Assistant Director of Development will have direct responsibility for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors. Collaborate in building a healthy culture for the school.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, manage, and evaluate all aspects of the annual fund strategy for various constituency groups, including new families, parents, faculty and staff, grandparents, and parents of alumni.
  • Design, implement, manage, and evaluate all aspects of the gala for various constituency groups, including new families, parents, faculty and staff, grandparents, and parents of alumni.
  • Strategize, plan, and manage the President’s Circle, including developing and implementing solicitation, cultivation, stewardship strategies, and donor events.
  • Carry out personal solicitations, cultivation, and stewardship of key major donors as assigned in collaboration with the Senior Director of PACE.
  • Coordinate the development and production of the Annual Report.
  • Coordinate with Alumni Relations Manager on alumni engagement activities.
  • Work with the MarComm Department to drive strategy and content for the Support Us pages on the tbcs.org website.
  • Assist with other fundraising and PACE department events and initiatives as requested.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, MarComm, and Parent Groups to support internal retention and community engagement activities.
  • Assist with Grandparents Day and other community engagement events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of direct fundraising experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for a degree.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work collaboratively on a team and communicate effectively and respectfully with donors, board members, volunteers, staff, parents, grandparents, and alumni.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple deadlines and deliverables in a timely, organized way. Adept at juggling competing priorities. Ability to stay focused, even-tempered, and to use good judgment in stressful circumstances.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and with a good sense of humor.
  • Experience working with fundraising and/or school information system databases, knowledge of Veracross a bonus.
  • Experience attending or working in an independent school preferred.
