General Job Description:

At The Covenant School, we believe that the purpose of education is the holistic formation of students into the Imago Dei. Sports serve as powerful tools in this formation process, shaping the hearts, minds, and bodies of young men and women.

We are seeking a passionate and relational leader who is committed to fostering strong connections with students and parents while using athletics to cultivate character, teamwork, and growth.

This position can be structured as either part-time or full-time, depending on if the AD is able to add on additional responsibilities such as teaching or overseeing additional Student Life activities. The Athletics Director will oversee seven middle and high school sports: soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball, swimming, golf, and track & field.

Required qualifications:

• A highly personable professional with exceptional attention to detail.
• College degree
• Availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (days on campus), and some availability on Wednesdays and/or Fridays.

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience leading athletics (coaching, athletic administration, related roles)
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure the athletic program aligns with the school’s mission and values.
• Develop and oversee the vision, goals, and strategic direction of the athletic program.
• Foster a positive athletic culture prioritizing formation: character development, leadership, and sportsmanship.
• Recruit, supervise, and encourage coaching staff, ensuring proper training and development.
• Schedule athletic events, practices, and transportation while coordinating facility usage.
• Ensure all athletic policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are upheld.
• Address and resolve concerns from parents, coaches, or athletes in a Christ-like and professional manner.
• Support student-athletes in their academics.
• Plan and oversee athletic events, banquets, and award ceremonies.
• Oversee inventory, purchasing, and care of athletic equipment and uniforms.
• Manage athletic insurance policies and risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor safety protocols, including concussion management and emergency action plans.
• Oversee eligibility requirements, physical exams, and academic standards for student-athletes.
