Band Director, Grade 6-12: The Band Director will conduct the School’s band and serve as the Band Instructor for Logic School (6th through 8th grades) and Rhetoric School (9th through 12th grades) using classical methods and a Biblical worldview in order to prepare students with excellence to pursue God’s truth, knowledge and wisdom in the Arts, and to do so with diligence, excellence, and perseverance. These teaching duties will be combined with other responsibilities, depending upon education and experience.
Work Schedule: This is an exempt 40-hour per week, academic year position. Exceptions are when the school is closed for designated holiday breaks. The work schedule will be dependent on the number of sections offered for the academic year. However, preparations for instrumental music performances and Fine Arts Department competitions will typically occur outside of this schedule and may require significant time commitments and some travel. Faculty meetings are also required.
Essential Requirements: A disciple of Jesus Christ; full and unreserved supporter of the School’s Statement of Faith; Bachelor’s degree in music, experience in leading and teaching instrumental music; middle and/or upper school teaching experience; a mentor of students, comfortable in working with teenagers in a discipleship-oriented setting
Required Technical Abilities: Fluent in reading music; proficient in playing band instruments; foundational understanding of music theory and music performance; adept in using music technology
Preferred Experience: Five years teaching experience, ideally, in music; knowledge of and experience with the philosophy of classical Christian education
