As a University-Model® school, our Dialectic and Rhetoric students (6th-12th grade) meet on campus on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. General Job Description:
At The Covenant School, we believe that history is the record of events which took place at a certain time in a certain place, and which have been written down in a way that we who were not eyewitnesses of what occurred can nevertheless learn about them. Moreover, The Covenant School joins Bible-believing Christians throughout the ages in proclaiming that every historical event is a small part of a Great Story authored by the LORD. The modern history teacher will engage with stories and texts from the English speaking world from the 1600s through the mid-1800s, including Pilgrim’s Progress, History of Plymouth Plantation, and founding American documents. Students will read about and discuss religion, philosophy, literature, and historical issues through a Biblical worldview.
Required qualifications:
- College degree
- Availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (days on campus)
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience at the middle school or high school level
- Studied history
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Teach 8th Grade Modern History classes that each meet 3 days per week
- Plan lessonsÂ
- Grade papers and enter grades in online system
- Communicate with parents as needed
- Attend training days prior to the start of the school year
- Attend monthly staff meetings and periodic staff development
