Summary: Using the Ready Bodies, Learning Minds curriculum, the Motor Lab instructor helps students develop fine and gross motor skills through various physical activities in a motor lab setting. This teacher works closely with the other Grammar School teachers in Kindergarten Prep, Kindergarten and 1st and 2nd Grades, to assist students in developing, maturing and building learning readiness skills that are essential in the classroom.
Work Schedule: This is an exempt, ¾-time, academic year position beginning July 1, 2022, for the 2022-23 academic year. In general, the workday is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the school year. There is a mandatory faculty meeting once a week from 3:50 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and student drop-off and/or pick-up duties may be required. Exceptions are when the school is closed for designated holiday breaks.
Essential Requirements: Must love God, children and teaching; must be a disciple of Jesus Christ; fully and unreservedly support of the School’s Statement of Faith; Bachelor’s degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy; familiar with systems of the human body, e.g., reflexive, vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile; teaching/classroom experience or PT/OT work with children 5 to 10 years old
Preferred Experience and Abilities: Knowledge of and experience with the philosophy of classical Christian education and the Ready Bodies, Learning Minds program; a minimum of two years teaching experience with Kindergarten through 2nd Grade; licensed Physical or Occupational therapist in the State of Texas
