The Reading Specialist will work one-on-one with students providing spelling, writing and reading intervention strategies, tailoring teaching approaches to the needs of the student while monitoring progress. The focus is to grow a love for reading and learning in an educational environment that highlights and encourages a love for God’s created order. An emphasis is placed on a biblical worldview in order to prepare these students with excellence so they are equipped to pursue God’s truth, knowledge and wisdom, and to do so with diligence and perseverance.
Work Schedule: This is an exempt, part-time, 20-hours per week, academic year position beginning July 1, 2021, for the 2021-22 academic year. The work schedule will be determined by student availability for pull-out instruction. There is a mandatory faculty meeting once a week from 3:50 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Exceptions are when the school is closed for designated holiday breaks.
Essential Requirements: Must be a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ; support the School’s Statement of Faith fully and unreservedly; have a passion for teaching and a love for children; a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, Literacy or a related field; three years of teaching experience; experience using the Orton-Gillingham based reading intervention practices and reading assessments
Preferred Experience and Abilities: Orton-Gillingham certified practitioner; experience with the philosophy of classical Christian education
