Employment Opportunity
Grammar School Science Instructor
Full-Time Position
BEAUTY. ELEGANCE. WONDER.
When is the last time you heard people talk about these things in relation to science—and not just in the ivory towers of the highest levels of science innovation and application but, in the more pedestrian world of primary and secondary science education?
If both the idea and the challenge of wooing and romancing the hearts and minds of young students to see and experience these things in science during some of the earliest and most formative years of their lives makes your heart sing and reinvigorates your sense of calling, this may be just the position for you!
The Cambridge School, a Christian Classical school in beautiful San Diego, CA is seeking a full-time Grammar School science teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. We are a young, rapidly-growing, socio-economically and ethnically diverse school now serving students in a fully built out JK-12 institution. In our short, sixteen-year history, we have quickly become the school of choice for many San Diego families who are seeking both academic rigor as well as spiritual vitality as we fulfill our mission to equip students to “know, love, and practice that which is true, good and beautiful” and to prepare them to “live purposefully and intelligently in service of God and neighbor.” To learn more about the school visit us at www.cambridgeclassical.org.
We are looking for a full-time Grammar School science instructor for 4th, 5th and 6th Grade science. The ideal candidate will have a degree in biology, chemistry and/or physics, and must have basic proficiency in Life, Physical and Earth Sciences. In addition to teaching responsibilities, coordinating and planning Grammar School Science Field Day activities are included in this role. You will have the opportunity to coach and collaborate with other science teachers, shape pedagogy and strengthen the architecture of an existing robust science curriculum. This is a unique opportunity for someone to pursue his or her own intellectual passion for lifelong learning while equipping students who love to learn. Successful candidates will agree wholeheartedly with our Mission and Statement of Faith and must enjoy and work well with upper elementary students. An advanced degree in science and at least 3 years of prior teaching experience is a big plus but not absolutely required.
If you could see yourself in an academically robust, collegial, collaborative, and mission-driven educational environment—one that teachers consider as a vocational destination rather than stepping stone—please send a letter of interest and your résumé or curriculum vitae to careers@cambridgeclassical.org.
