Position Type: Non-Faculty, Exempt, Full-time 12 mo.

Reports to: President and Headmaster

Salary:  $90,000 - $100,000 Dependent on Experience

Job Summary

The Director of People and Culture  will lead on developing people and workplace culture, in line with The bear creek School’s values and strategic objectives. This person will create and nurture networks to recruit talent and develop individual employees. Additionally, this person will provide expertise and support in the areas of Performance Management, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Policy and Procedure Development, HR Compliance and direct strategic initiatives as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

Talent Scouting

  • Network with Best Fit Colleges and professionals to create network of faculty/staff recruits who understand mission
  • Recruit qualified candidates for employment who understand and can execute on mission

 

On-boarding:

  • Streamline and personalize high-quality employee experience from offer acceptance and on-boarding through first year
  • Check-in meetings throughout first year with new employees
  • Create and steward high-quality employee experience from hire through first year

 

Hiring:

  • Work with Manager with type of employee wanted for open position
  • Work with HRIS to determine best sites for job postings
  • Work on making job postings and benefits, etc. a better selling point (less formal)
  • Manage initial screening of applicants
  • Work with HRIS to manage Predictive Index screening
  • Work with HRIS on Systems and processes

 

Firing/PIPs and voluntary exits:

  • Work and train managers (academic and admin) when an employee has performance issues
  • Partner to execute proper course of action with least amount of risk to institution

 

Training and Talent Development

  • Work with managers and senior leadership to develop appropriate training and development
  • Train and develop managers and directors on related topics
  • Identify and Develop Future Administrative Talent and Leadership

 

Organizational Diagnostics and Design

  • Have the fingers on pulse of current culture vs targeted culture and manage toward target culture
  • Perform exit interviews, surveys, etc.
  • Coach and provide solution concepts to leaders to streamline processes and org functions within org to ensure process is completed on time, on budget and with high quality

 

Review Process

  • Work with HRIS to develop necessary tools for the review process
  • Train Managers (academic and admin) on providing proper feedback to employees (aligned with Professional Excellence expectations)

 

Support School Employees

  • Act as a liaison between teachers, staff and school administrators as needed

 

Expert in employment law state and federal (e.g., FMLA, Discrimination, etc.)

 

Lead special operational and strategic projects as directed by the President and Headmaster

 

Leadership Development

  • Identify and Develop Future Administrative Talent and Leadership
  • Create process for yearly check in or organization health (including key talent, succession planning, etc.)

 

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma and college degree required
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience working in similar professional setting
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to learn and work with the school’s integrated data-based software package
  • Team player
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Physical and/or Other Requirements

  • Valid/Current CPR, First Aid, AED certification
