Logos Academy is an accredited, independent school, and a nationally recognized, innovative leader in offering a unique brand of transformative urban education. Located within one of PA’s lowest performing public school districts, Logos Academy has sustained success in closing the achievement gap that is so often seen nationally for students in poverty. Producing noteworthy results, 2018 graduates of Logos Academy scored the highest SAT averages across two counties when compared to most recently published results for public schools. Missionally committed to remaining extremely affordable for families, Logos Academy offers substantial student scholarships, bringing the average tuition down to less than $2,000 per student. Logos Academy earned Middle States Accreditation (MSA) in the spring of 2017. In the oral report, the MSA visiting team said, “Many schools claim to change lives; clearly Logos Academy does change lives.” Our leadership is consistently sought out to consult other schools on matters of leadership, governance, fundraising, trauma-informed practices, and a variety of other school matters.

Title: Principal (Exempt, 12-month, Full-Time, Regular, No Stipend)
Reports To: CEO
Location: York, PA
Starting Salary: $75,000 dependent on experience and qualifications

Major Responsibilities

  • Visionary Leader
    1. Serve as a member of the Executive Team to insure the Board’s annual outcomes are met
    2. Collaborate on short and long-term strategic planning, and annual budgetary planning
    3. Lead the academic and operations teams toward fulfillment of the Logos Academy mission, vision, and values
    4. Support the advancement department in the fulfillment of its fundraising and community engagement goals
  • Academic Leader
    1. Deliver annual academic outcomes in line with Board annual outcomes stipulated to the CEO
    2. Proactively and articulate promote the unique educational model and philosophy of Logos Academy
    3. Provide instructional leadership toward an excellent Christ-centered, culturally diverse education in the classical tradition that is contextualized to York’s urban setting
      1. Develop and maintain a K-12 curriculum and all accompanying resources
      2. Develop and maintain a K-12 curricular map with measurable benchmarks and assessment methods in place for all subject areas at each grade level as well as a set of signature projects for each grade level that provide students with hands-on interdisciplinary learning experiences
      3. Establish and maintain high school graduation requirements and transcripts (school registrar policies and procedures)
      4. Oversee a multi-faceted, school-wide assessment approach utilizing multiple data sets (entrance exams, MAP, student/faculty/family culture surveys, etc)
      5. Lead the school in maintaining accreditation through Middle States
    4. Hire, develop, and support K-12 faculty toward high-quality instruction and individualized student growth
      1. Provide leadership and supervision to

        2. faculty, adjunct teachers (overseeing supervision by division leads)
        3. specials teachers and teacher assistants (overseeing supervision by division leads)
        4. substitute teachers, and highly-qualified volunteers working with students
        5. student and family support coordinator

        9. human resources and administrative manager
        10. administrative assistants (overseeing supervision by human resources and administrative manager)
      2. Provide professional development for faculty according to a creatively developed professional development plan utilizing both internal and external sources, so that faculty are fully equipped and trained, individually and as a team
      3. Lead Division Leads in providing formal evaluation and assessment of faculty pedagogy, lesson planning, and classroom management to ensure that their content and methods deliver on the school’s academic outcomes
      4. Assist Division Leads in their support of faculty in cultivating collaborative family partnerships
      5. Supply teacher resources and maintain inventory for all educational materials
      6. Establish and maintain all academic assessments required for new student enrollment
      7. Lead academic administrative assistant to review assessment results in determining admissions
    1. Oversee the admissions director manage a seamless admissions enrollment/re-enrollment process for students and families, providing appropriate academic assessment for incoming/returning students.
  • Campus Leader
    1. Deliver annual spiritual and employee growth outcomes in line with Board outcomes stipulated to the CEO
    2. Oversee the implementation of the Board’s spiritual life plan
    3. Ensure that the culture and community are vibrant (fun, energetic, empowered, diligent, creative, collaborative, free of fear, full of sharing, and openness (“yes, and” not “yes, but”)
    4. Facilitate a growth mindset where faculty are community of lifelong learners that set a compelling example for all Logos Academy students (maintaining “a school with a school” as described by author and classical educator David Hicks)
      1. Create an environment of personal growth where internal promotion is the norm
    5. Serve as the face of the York campus for students and families
Minimum Requirement

  • Passionate commitment to helping Logos Academy be a vibrant learning community, committed to our 5C’s: Christ-centered, culturally diverse, community-minded, classically trained, and collaborative family partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and M.Ed degree
  • At least five years experience in faculty and/or curriculum development at an elementary and/or secondary school
  • Three years experience in administrative leadership in a classical and/or urban environment
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral
  • Commitment to advancing the mission of Logos Academy through hard work, innovation, partnership with the Advancement Department, and in good stewardship of resources.
  • Commitment to helping Logos Academy advance the technology plan through personal growth and initiative.
