LATIN/HUMANITIES: Ascent Classical Academy seeks to hire a classics teacher for the 2019-20 school year. The candidate should have a strong background in the Latin language, having majored in classics, classical history, or a related discipline with substantial coursework in Latin. The ability to teach other subjects related to the classics (e.g., literature, history, Greek, or another foreign language) would be an advantage. The Latin teacher will serve as a valuable resource at the school for all things classical and grammatical.
The Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County, Colorado is a K-12 classical charter school that opened K-10 in the Fall of 2018. Latin is a required course in grades six through eight, and high-school students must take a full year of Latin to graduate. Often students will take Latin through the senior year.
Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitae, a letter of interest, a brief essay on their philosophy of education (circa 500 words) and copies of college transcripts to firstname.lastname@example.org. Unofficial transcripts will do initially. Candidates must both understand and support the mission and philosophy of classical education and of Ascent Classical Academy.
