Position: Public Health Response Coordinator
Reports to: Superintendent
Duty Days: March 1, 2022- June 30, 2023
Employee Status: Independent Contractor
Hours: 20 Hours per week
Job Summary
- Aristoi Classical Academy is seeking an independent contractor to provide district-wide
professional coordinator services. The contractor is responsible for providing a wide range of support to school administration, heads of schools, student care employees, and the school community regarding COVID response and services. - The Public Health Response Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between vendors, TEA, and local agencies. The coordinator will handle day-to-day activities and provide coordination to provide funding grant deliverables. The position reports directly to the Superintendent.

- The consultant should possess a detailed knowledge of public health and school student care.
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing. Ability to make effective oral
presentations before groups of people. - Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
- Skill using a computer and other electronic communication devices. Skills associated with
word processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email, Google Docs and Google Drive,
social media, and other data applications, programs, and tools. - Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and discretion. Ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships. - Ability to travel to relevant meetings, trainings, exercises, workshops, and conferences, locally and within the Region and State.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Support school based COVID Response Teams
- Work with the local health department to ensure that Aristoi Classical Academy has the most current information and directives.
- Oversee COVID–19 testing support supplies including testing kits and personal protective
equipment (PPE) inventory and implement training. - Support and train personnel on health mitigation strategies and preparedness activities
- Oversee Aristoi Classical Academy COVID-19 On-site testing program and provide
coordination between vendors, TEA, and local agencies. - Program Evaluation:
- Ensure the systematic collection of information about the activities, characteristics, and outcomes of programs, including COVID-19 pandemic response efforts, to inform current program decisions, improve program effectiveness, and make decisions about future program development.
- Address community recovery and resilience needs to respond effectively to the COVID19 pandemic and other biologic threats including vaccine related education.
- Review student health goals including types of staff hired and the general roles they hold.
- Deliverables
- Develop or refine the existing pandemic response program tailored to the needs of Aristoi students and staff.
- Review and update COVID-19 mitigation plan to reflect most current TEA guidelines and local health department mandates. Review bi-annually, or as needed with increases in outbreaks.
- Review and audit weekly COVID-19 reporting to the Harris County Health Department; assist with submitting any missing reports.
- Audit current communicable disease reporting processes and improve streamline of communication to the appropriate entities.
- Provide weekly district communicable disease data, including COVID-19 reports.
- Review and update vaccination record keeping ensuring all TxDSHS mandated vaccines and exemptions (ROCs) are up to date.
- Conduct surveillance of communicable diseases, including vaccine-preventable diseases and emerging infectious diseases.
- Work with local environmental health, communicable disease, and statewide organizations on investigation and control of communicable and infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, and other health hazards.
- Training and Education
- Train and educate existing staff on topics such as incident management training; health equity issues and working with underserved populations; cultural competency; disease investigations; informatics or data management; or other needs identified by Aristoi Classical Academy.
- Developing, training, and equip response ready “task force” teams capable of deploying rapidly to meet emergent needs for each campus.
- Deliverables
- Conduct no less than one 2-hour professional development training for Student Service Coordinators each semester.
- Survey the needs of the Student Service Coordinators and provide focused training based on those needs.
- Conduct annual staff training to address classroom management of common student health needs, emergency prevention and when to activate the area EMS.
- Develop virtual training modules to reference as needed.
- Weekly “check-ins” with Student Service Coordinators to answer questions and provide guidance on student health related questions.
- Form “School Emergency Committee” to perform annual risk assessment of the campus and review safety protocols on campus. Submit results of the annual report to Aristoi upon completion.
- Review records of staff certifications such as CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed training, and epilepsy training; assist with obtaining up-to-date training as needed.
- Organize the infrastructure of the Emergency Response Team (“taskforce”) with clearly defined roles and contact information available.
- Coordinate activities or “drills” with Emergency Response Team members biannually.
- Disseminate public health information relevant to the Aristoi community.
- Accountability
- Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information, while maintaining the safety and welfare for all students and staff members
- Maintains accurate records of all services provided.
- Comply with existing and/or future directives and guidance from HHS Secretary
- Help support the guidance of individual COVID-19 patient care regardless of external constraints.
- Assist USG in implementation and enforcement of federal orders related to Q & I
- Comply with COVID-19 test reporting.
- Provide data to Aristoi Classical Academy for CDC or local reporting guidelines.
- Deliverables
- Maintain good communication with Aristoi staff, students, and community partners.
- Submit reports in a timely manner.
- Protect the integrity of student and staff health information.
- Develop and present training to Student Service Coordinators regarding student and staff health information confidentiality, HIPAA training.
- Produce student health information confidentiality statements for signature by any personnel involved and trained in student care.
- Data collection of quality control metrics regarding campus based COVID-19 testing.
- Develop or refine existing methods for district COVID-19 and communicable disease reporting for submission to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Submit bi-annual report to Aristoi of aforementioned disease reporting data, site audit results, and staff training attendance/completion records.
