Rhetoric School Rhetoric Instructor: The Rhetoric School instructor will teach 9th and 10th grade Rhetoric and, together with the Thesis Instructor, teach, coach, and mentor Seniors as they develop, research, and write their Senior Thesis. The instructor will rely on classical methods and a biblical worldview to help students master the three rhetorical appeals, the five canons of rhetoric, the arrangement of a classical essay, essay preparation and research, and oral presentation.
Work Schedule: This is an exempt, full-time, academic year position beginning July 1, 2021, for the 2021-22 academic year. In general, the workday is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., five days a week for ten months. Exceptions are when the school is closed for designated holiday breaks.
Essential Requirements: Must be a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ; support the School’s Statement of Faith fully and unreservedly; be a mentor comfortable discipling high school students; a Bachelor’s degree in classical Humanities, Liberal Arts, English, Communications or a related field; three (3) years of experience teaching or working closely with high school students, ideally, in a classical Christian school.
Preferred Requirements: Five (5) years of experience teaching high school students, ideally, in a classical Christian school; experience in teaching Rhetoric; knowledge of and experience with the philosophy of classical Christian education.
