About Donum Dei Classical Academy

Donum Dei Classical Academy, a Gift of God, opened in August 2019 in San Francisco, California. Our mission is to impart a rich classical Christian curriculum full of Scriptural truth and life-giving experiences. We exist to nourish students’ hearts, souls, minds, and bodies for the purpose of growing in them knowledge, wisdom, good character, and Christ-like virtue worthy of bringing glory to our great God. The leadership team has set the foundation for a rich intellectual and spiritual culture, with excellent teachers across disciplines who are dedicated to shaping the hearts and minds of the young.

School Hours

Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-3:15 pm and Friday, 8:00am-1:30pm | Extended Care until 5:30pm

This position supports the overall success of Donum Dei in foundational and fundamental ways that impact all areas of our organization.  As a classroom teacher, you’ll help develop our grammar school, support initiatives to further our institutional effectiveness and reach, as well as support the overall wellbeing of our students through facilitating daily academic, social, spiritual, and emotional learning.

Requirements & Preferred Qualifications

Requirements

  • Agree with Donum Dei’s Statement of Faith and serve as a minister of the Gospel.
  • Complete professional development requirements and safety training throughout the school year as applicable.
  • Attend Morning Assembly (M/W/F at 8am) and Friday Staff Meetings (1:45-2:45) as applicable.
  • Participate in school activities such as Parent Orientation, Back to School Night, The Greatest Gift, equipping events and fundraisers as applicable.
  • Have a love for children, display a love for learning, and commit to cultivate that love for learning in students.
  • Devote yourself wholeheartedly to the Lord and be in good standing with a Christian church.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Professional working experience in specified job areas
  • Pursue the ACSI Teacher Certification, Classical Educator Equivalent, CA Teacher Credential, or Master’s in Classical Education within two years of initial employment.

Role & Responsibilities

Curriculum Development & Instruction:

  • Develop, write, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state learning standards and the classical education philosophy.
  • Incorporate classical techniques, including memorization, narration, and Socratic discussion, to foster a love of learning.
  • Design and implement hands-on activities, stories, and songs to support early literacy, numeracy, and character formation.

Classroom Management & Environment:

  • Establish and maintain classroom routines, rhythms, and procedures to create an orderly, peaceful, and effective learning environment.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that encourage respect, self-discipline, and virtue development.
  • Organize and maintain a welcoming and structured classroom space that supports student engagement and learning.

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring:

  • Track student progress through formative and summative assessments, documenting academic, social, emotional, and character development.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and parents on performance, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Maintain an updated and accessible gradebook on the school’s server.

Parent & Staff Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents through emails, newsletters, or conferences, keeping them informed of student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to align curriculum, share best practices, and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Host parents in the classroom for back-to-school night and all-school open house events.

Professional Responsibilities & Development:

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Assist in assessing incoming students to determine grade-level proficiency.
  • Complete regular report cards and progress reports per the academic calendar.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences twice a year, including after-school availability as needed.

Supervision & School Support:

  • Supervise students during recess, before school begins, at pick-up, and during school programming as needed.
  • Provide lesson plans for substitute teachers and secure a substitute for planned or emergency absences.
  • Keep lesson plans updated and uploaded to the server and create curriculum maps for each subject taught.

Student Support & Remediation:

  • Take responsibility for student learning outcomes, offering additional support before, during, or after school as needed.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations to assist students in meeting learning objectives.

Schedule & Compensation

Working Schedule

Monday through Friday 7:30-4:30

  • Working Schedule: including but not limited to school trimesters, required in-service days,  and required professional development days.

Employment Type

Full Time Exempt - 40 hours per week

Set PTO and Sick Pay

Teaching Staff Set PTO Schedule

  • Set PTO: (10 weeks) Based on the published 25/26 Academic Calendar

San Francisco County Sick Pay

  • 72 hours annually accrued at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked.

Compensation

Compensation is an annual salary paid bimonthly with partial salary paid as tuition credit if applicable. Benefits and employee contributed 401(k)are also available for full time employees.

The pay range for this role is:

55,000 - 60,000 USD per year (Campus)
