There was a time when a management consulting was a luxury that only elite independent schools could afford. Increasingly, though, as more middle-of-the-road private schools engage with large, complex projects or problems, consulting can seem necessary. This workshop will describe an insider’s view of the private educational consulting landscape, the varieties of consulting foci, and its history among classical schools. More importantly, the workshop will provide a framework to help a school determine when consulting makes sense and when it doesn’t. And, when consulting seems to make sense, how does a leadership team ensure that the school gets the fullest return on the investment?
