I have taught Latin and history for many years. I have a deep passion for the Latin language and Roman history and enthusiastically enjoy sharing that passion with students.
I agree with the your philosophy that “All children can learn when taught correctly, regardless of past history.” I feel connecting to the students as individuals and on a personal level is what engages them and bring them to level of wanting to learn. I believe in “teaching across the curriculum,” as no subject is isolated from any other. Teaching Latin has enabled me to teach ancient history, literature, poetry, English grammar as well as the language. I have also taught humanities and mythology, which helps with the whole global perspective of history. My lesson plans are developed using constructivist techniques and are authentic with the intention of helping students become life-long learners.
Masters in Teaching in Secondary Social Studies (History and Anthropology) and then went back for Latin.
