My professional experience and education have given me the knowledge and skill set that have shaped me into an effective and impactful educator. Thus far in my career, I have taught Physical Education to students in all grades Pre-K through 12 and have taught Health at the secondary level in New Jersey. I love my job but I will be moving to the Orlando area over the summer to be closer to family and I am looking to continue my teaching career there. I am currently going through the application process to receive educator certification in Florida via reciprocity with my New Jersey Standard Certification.
In my current teaching position I am creating and implementing engaging lessons that meet both national and state standards to improve students' psychomotor, cognitive, and affective abilities. My ultimate goal is to create an atmosphere in the gym that allows students to be comfortable and confident in daily physical activity and hopefully inspire my students to be physically active outside of school as well.
This major prepares students to become teachers in K-12 programs. Students in this major are exercise science majors whose program of focus is designed to prepare to meet the state requirements for teaching health and physical education. Students begin to gain classroom experience during their sophomore year that continues through their student teaching.
