Seasoned educator with three years of university teaching experience, seven years of secondary teaching, and two years as academic dean.  Jarrid has taught courses in Latin and Greek languages, literature, and culture.  He has extensive knowledge of the classical canon and its reception, and is well-versed in the classical model of education.  He has actively participated in continued learning through conferences and professional research.  Jarrid believes that students may be best taught about our beautiful civilization and world by impassioned teacher-leaders who are of upstanding moral character.  He actively works to ensure that educators are versed in the best practices of classical education - seeking the good, true, and beautiful by means of the liberal arts and Great Books. He is confident, passionate, and enthusiastic about working with all people.  Jarrid is currently looking for an administrative role that is specialized in the classical education model repopularized by Doroth Sayers in "The Lost Tools of Learning."

The roles of this position are to:

Assist other classroom teachers in integrating the classical model into the classroom by:
Co-teaching specific lessons;

Providing insight on the “high view of people” who have helped shape various academic material;

Assisting in the development of direct instruction and cross-curricular education;

Researching, vetting, and promoting primary texts, many of which come from the Great Books of the Western World, for implementation into the classroom;

Researching, vetting, and promoting primary and secondary texts beyond the Great Books for implementation into the classroom;

Developing a cross-curricular understanding of the implementation of the Liberal Arts (i.e. Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric, Geometry, Astronomy, Music, and Arithmetic) in all subject matters;

Assuring the development of the Grammatical, Dialectical, and Rhetorical stages of learning across departments.

Ensure that teachers have access to classical education materials and training;

Administer and arrange classical education training for the faculty;

Work closely with the AP Education Director in assuring classical education methods are being used in AP classes;

Work closely with the Educational Development Director to maintain standards of instruction across the curriculum and to acquire needed training materials;

Work closely with admin to set up professional development for staff;

Work closely with the Academic Committee to ensure proper texts (e.g. textbooks, primary texts, and secondary texts) are implemented and utilized;

Develop classical education standards and define classical education as implemented by PCHS;

Assess the academic curriculum against the definition of Classical Education of PCHS;

Maintain a level of rigor held by classical educational standards;

Develop a series of scaffolded skills to be implemented in all levels of classes to support classical education;
Conduct informal observations of classes for the purpose of providing feedback to staff on how to better implement classical education in the classroom.
