What is the BIDVVM MAGISTRORUM II?

The BIDVVM is a two day immersive language learning event for (aspiring) Latin teachers and tutors of different abilities. It aims to promote appreciation, enjoyment, comprehension, and facility in spoken Latin. Participants converse, read, laugh, and compose in Latin. A Praeceptor (facilitator) guides the sessions through various authors, texts, and topics with a special emphasis on pedagogy.  Teachers, tutors, aspiring teachers. and experienced high school students should find the BIDVVM both inviting and challenging, applicable and delightful.

Join Buck Holler and the Covenant Classical School languages department in Ft. Worth, TX on Jan. 27-28, 2023 for Latin discussion, literature, lessons, pedagogy, music, and more on the topic “de discipulo” (concerning the learner).

Engagement Levels

There will be two public discussion tables at the front of the room: Tirones (beginners) and Peritiores (intermediate to advanced). Specatores (observers) will have seats on the sides and back of the room. Livestream access will also be available for virtual attendees.

BuckHoller

Buck Holler is a former horse trainer and rodeo cowboy from Red Bluff, CA. Retiring from the rodeo circuit, Buck headed to New England to study theology and languages at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2001. Since then he has worked in three schools as an educator and moved to raise a family on a farm in eastern NC. Buck first joined The CiRCE Institute as an apprentice in 2007, became a head mentor of an East Coast Apprenticeship in 2017, began the Latin Apprenticeship in 2019, and now serves in Concord, NC as CiRCE’s director of consulting.
