Description
OVERVIEW
The Head of School serves as the spiritual, academic, and executive leader of St. Paul’s Community School. This individual provides vision, direction, and leadership to ensure the school remains Christ-centered, academically excellent, and fully aligned with its mission. The Head of School is accountable to the Board of Directors and serves as both advisor to the Board and representative of the school in the broader community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Leadership
- Lead the school from a thoroughly biblical perspective, ensuring all teaching and administration are grounded in Scripture.
- Model prayerfulness, sensitivity to God’s leading, and spiritual maturity in daily decision-making.
- Uphold biblical standards of ethics in all aspects of school life.
- Set the pace personally and professionally in the school’s core values.
- Address personnel issues with wisdom, grace, and accountability.
Academic Leadership
- Actively pursue personal intellectual growth.
- Ensure facilities and grounds are safe, maintained, and conducive to learning.
- Stay informed about trends in education, especially in classical Christian education.
- Provide oversight, accountability, and support to the administrative team for:
- curriculum development and implementation.

Executive Leadership
- Serve as the legally responsible head of the school.
- Support and implement the Board’s long-range vision for the school.
- Develop and oversee the school’s strategic plan.
- Cultivate a collaborative, mission-driven school culture.
- Recruit, mentor and lead a team of high quality administrative staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, ministries, and civic organizations.
- Develop and oversee a strong enrollment and advancement program.
Finance & Fundraising
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, and business procedures.
- Lead efforts to meet fundraising benchmarks and cultivate new and existing donor relationships.
- Approve and monitor expenditures within the Board-approved budget.
- Apply for grants and oversee grant reporting requirements.
Board Relations
- Serve as the Board’s educational consultant, providing analysis and recommendations on school operations and strategy.
- Serve as advisor to the Board of Directors and attend all Board meetings.
- Implement Board policies through sound administrative principles and procedures.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of Board committees.
- Provide recommendations on personnel, curriculum, and assessment.
- Communicate regularly with the Board regarding school needs, challenges, and opportunities.
EVALUATION
The Head of School is evaluated annually by the Head of School Support and Evaluation Committee (HSEC) of the Board of Directors, based on performance in spiritual leadership, academic leadership, administration, and alignment with the school’s mission.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Three years of equivalent ministry or educational experience. Preferred masters degree in related field
